How does this thing work?
Girls' Day 2005!

We had an exciting weekend in the McGurr household. It was one year ago (on the 30th) that we found out for sure that Bettie was on her way and we received news from LaVida that Maddie was waiting for us. In the span of 8 hours we discovered we were soon going to have 2 children. I'm still not sure we are over it, but the girls seem to be adjusting just fine.

We had all sorts of fun on Girls' Day of '05. Sean is going to make t-shirts next year. As you can see, we bought the girls a sand/water table. Maddie really digs it even though we don't have any sand in it yet.

Hey, look at this!

Wait a minute! Where is the sand?

I think she just likes it because she can make a huge mess. The girls have on their new Girls' Day 2005 outfits, fresh from the Goodwill. We have a really nice Goodwill here (which I just visited for the first time). I got these outfits (minus the hats) for 75 cents each on half price day. I also scored a big hit with a giant Elmo, which you can see Maddie loves.
Maddie and her one true love
I also found a giant Clifford.

We let Bettie play with Elmo when Maddie is sleeping or occupied elsewhere. Bettie has very earnest conversations (consisting of ooohhs, ahhhs, and zerberts) with a number of inanimate objects, including the tv remote. We've been putting her in the walker to give her a change of scenery. As you can see, it makes her very pensive.

This is where I do my best thinking

She also tried out her jumper on Saturday. Sean's grandfather bought it for the girls and Bettie is just getting old enough to bounce around.
I'm a very good baby despite my demon eyes

We took walks, played outside, and bought brownies and pretended they were for the girls. We were going to go out for dinner, but ordered Chinese take out in honor of Maddie instead. The girls got some new books and Bettie has some new teething toys (Maddie still enjoys a chomp or two). Their biggest present was their new wheels. We finally broke down and bought a minivan. The employee discount, cash back thing was too much for us. So, now the girls can ride comfortably and we are close to them and/or can sit with them. Sarah can also come along without a major hassle. Our parting shot for today is a picture of the girls in their new ride.

Check us out! Girls' Day 2005 Woohoo!

I just want to say that water/sand table gets lots of playing time at our house too. The girls handsome cousin Aedan has the same one. Thanks to Uncle Sean and Aunt Melanie.
